Marvel VS. DC: Quicksilver VS. The Flash

Quicksilver and The Flash. The speedy guys with lightning bolts on their uniforms. Each one is has the same superpower, superhuman speed, but who would win if they were to race?

First things first, a bit of character background.

                                                      Quicksilver
Pietro Maximoff, also known as Quicksilver, is Marvel's resident speedster. He made his first appearance in The X-Men #4, published in March of 1964. He became a staple of the comics and has appeared in many other forms of media since then, including TV shows and films.

Pietro Maximoff was the son of the evil mutant Magneto and an ordinary human. He and his twin sister Wanda (The Scarlet Witch) were both born mutants, his his mutant ability being the power to run at extremely high speeds of up to Mach 10, or about ten times the speed of sound. Pietro and his sister were both abandoned at a young age, and were found and raised by gypsies. Pietro eventually encountered Magneto again, as an adult, and was persuaded by him to join his "Brotherhood", a group of mutants who wanted to wipe out humanity. Pietro soon realized the true intentions of the group, and left. He later joined the Avengers and has worked with them on and off, doing solo missions in between his stints on the roster.

                                                       The Flash
For this battle, I'm using the Barry Allen incarnation of Flash, the first of many modern Flashes.

Barry Allen, also known as The Flash, is DC's speedy guy. His first appearance was in Showcase #4, published in October of 1956. He is widely considered the first hero of the Silver Age of Comics. He quickly became a very popular character, and appeared in many different comic series over the years, as well as cartoons, live action TV shows, video games, and more.

Barry Allen was a forensic scientist, with a reputation for being very slow, and frequently running late. One night he was working alone in the lab, when a freak bolt of lightning hit hit the building, shattering a nearby rack of chemicals. The combination of the lightning and the chemicals should have killed him, but instead he found himself able to run at unimaginable speeds, faster than the speed of light! He donned a crimson uniform and a mask to use his newfound powers against evil, adopting the moniker of The Flash.

Both heroes are very fast, but Quicksilver reaches his limit at the speed of sound, whereas Flash can easily travel at the speed of light. This makes this an easy win for the Flash, he wins without a doubt. Sorry, Quicksilver.
