Sherlock!!!

I recently started watching BBC's modern day adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes mythos and I have to say, it is absolutely amazing in every way possible.

Although I've only seen one episode so far, the writing is stellar and the acting is phenomenal. Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock is perfect. He's cold, calculating, and everything you could want from Sherlock Holmes, but also very humorous and extremely intelligent. Martin Freeman portrays John Watson, and he does a fantastic job of it. His Watson, witty and brave, melds perfectly with Cumberbatch's Holmes.

The story takes place in current day London, with Holmes and Watson still living at the famous 221 B Baker Street address.  Many of the original characters from the Arthur Conan Doyle books appear in new modernized versions in the show, such as Detective Lestrade, Sherlock's main contact in the police, renamed as Detective Inspector Lestrade to fit in with the modern setting. Also appearing is Sherlock's older brother Mycroft Holmes, who appears to be a darker, more mysterious character in the show than he is in the books.

So far I think the show is awesome, and I can't wait to watch more. It shouldn't take too long for me to watch it all, as only three seasons (With only three episodes apiece!) have been released. The show was also created by the main writer of the BBC's popular science fiction program Doctor Who, Steven Moffat. Again, although I have only seen one episode, I absolutely love the show and would recommend it to any fan of Arthur Conan Doyle's stories.
